Process work

magazine reboot

The project, magazine reboot, focused on layout design based on the article, “Should We All Aspire to Live Like a Modern-Day Cowboy," published by Outside Magazine. The story is intended to make readers feel a connection to the subject, Trent Peterson, and his thoughts on his version of the American Dream. His idea is represented through the visual illustration of a man riding a horse, looking westward at the untold possibilities. The typeface “Freehouse” is used as the heading for a clean, western look. The typeface “Cherry Blossoms” is a handwritten typeface to provide a sense of empathy and reality; it was used throughout the magazine in the folio, photo captions, subheadings, and paragraph headers. Both typefaces were paired with Georgia for a readable body copy. The color palette of red, cream, and blue provides a deep connection to America and gives context to what the article is about.
