With inspiration from the original cover of Leon Bridges’s album, Coming Home, this design represents the vintage sound that Bridges wanted to portray in his album. The design system created a strong series with the muted color palette including warm red, blue, yellow, and cream. All components of the system use the typefaces “Mudstone Black” as the header and “Charter” for all other supplemental text. The continuation of the colors, inclusion of icons, and typeface package contribute to the intentionality of the system. Printing the album on a heavy, manilla tag board represents the materiality and contributes to the vintage ambience. Overall, the new album design is intended to force curiosity and conceptual thinking.
